En lo general muy bien..dentro de lo que se esperaba..en cuanto a comidas lo que son carnes, no parece que sean de buena calidad..deben mejorar eso!todo lo demás en cómoda está bien. Y atención al cliente relativamente bien..solo un empleado se disgusto un poco con nosotros por solicitar varias bebidas..deben mejorar más el servicio al cliente..en cuanto a instalación física es la misma existente de varios años y con solo la mejora del parque acuático que en realidad no es tan grande como se menciona en promos..pero está bien..se deben tomar ciertas consideraciones para también tomar encuenta otros lugares para disfrutar.

Beautiful Hotel, lovely grounds, helpful and friendly staff, lots of choice of activities and food, spoiled only by covid 19 regulations making everything a bit more difficult/confusing.

My family had a great vacation here the week of Nov 8-13. We have been to several Riu resorts and this one did not disappoint and was exactly what we expected. The grounds are really beautiful and well taken care of here and the resort itself is really nice. We booked several months in advance and were able to get a 2 bdrm 2 bath so the kids had their own room which was huge and had a couch in it. The views of the mountains and water were incredible from our room. When you wake up in the morning down here, it was really quiet and pretty cool hearing the exotic birds with the rising sun and many other forms of wildlife as well. The food was solid and exactly what we would expect at any Riu resort. We were able to eat at the Italian restaurant (which we had reservations for ahead of time) since we did a vowel renewal ceremony on the beach for our 10yr anniversary and this was part of the package. Luckily, another night my wife an I had a date night at the Steakhouse...we did have a 45minute wait but got a martini and enjoyed some quiet time on the resort...no rush, enjoyed a drink and then our table was ready. A bonus we did not expect was being able to get into the Asian restaurant which was buffet style but had limited capacity. I think we were kind of lucky as the week was relatively quiet, I would say less than 2/3 full mid week but def felt it fuller on the Saturday we arrived and the Saturday we left. Entertainment was great the staff was so kind to our family and our kids. A few folks stood out, helping my wife carry a plate of food while she managed the 3 yr old. They would come and help out, interact with the kids, just awesome folks. Our wedding coordinator...amazing!!!! Patient, we switched some things on her last minute, she was so kind and cool with it (we forgot about the time change) and needed to move the ceremony on the beach earlier due to the daylight. The water park...crazy, so fun and a little area for the little ones. We went everyday it was open. The beach has some amazing mountain views and highly recommend the water taxi to Coco beach! What a great adventure for the whole family. Also hit up the locals on the beach for some great deals on ATV rides, Jetskis, and Massages. Love to support the locals and they all offered some great deals and took great care that we enjoyed some activities. I understand everyone is not comfortable with that and the resort offers the same adventure opportunities on sight for a more premium price. To each their own, but we love to support local business when we can. We knew the casio and dance club would be closed due to Covid protocol, all good, only wish the atm could stay open in the casio so we could withdraw more cash...have to go to Coco beach to hit an atm so come prepared with lots of small bills for tip money on the resort. They turn the air conditioner off from 10am to 2pm but thats great cause you should at least be at the pools by then and it saves a ton of energy. I have no complaints about this trip...GREAT service, GREAT people, lot's to do in a beautiful country that people would go a lifetime without experiencing. Rapid covid tests easily scheduled and results back in less than 12 hours! Do it ALL on your stay here! See the shows, enjoy the smooth jazz, hit up the sports bar, have the locals set you up on some adventures...check out the countryside, hit Coco beach or just relax...drinks are really good, and they make them stronger on request. Tip well, set the tone, and the bartenders will take good care of you...often not having to leave pool side to get a drink. Definitely going to go back, because there are so many activities right off the resort...like ziplining, that we want to do. As you get ready to land and take off...check out some of the most amazing views from the plan in your life! Volcanoes!

Ha sido una experiencia nueva y maravillosa. La atención del personal fue respetuosa, amable y cálida. Recuerdo con cariño a Aida, Robinson, Roinner así como el personal que nos atendió la noche del miércoles durante la cena, entre otros.La calidad de los platillos y bebidas sin igual, destaco la cena en el restaurante temático El Tucán, los cócteles preparados con sumo cuidado pero a la vez tomando en cuenta el gusto del cliente.Los shows que presencié contaban con una alta calidad, emanada del profesionalismo del elenco.Definitivamente es un lugar para regresar.

Desde que llegamos hasta que salimos estuvimos felices en nuestras vacaciones. Siempre pendientes de atendernos, a nuestras peticiones especiales, a hacernos sentir cómo en casa. Cada persona que nos colaboró siempre lo hizo con una sonrisa en su rostro, se notaba en los ojos que eran señal que debajo de la mascarilla había una sonrisa. Carlos de animación un increíble ser humano. Son las personas que no deben perder en su staff de animación. Definitivamente volveremos

Really nice place for families and a nice place for adults too! They have an adults only section of the pool and lots of evening activities for adults! There's always something going on all day so it's impossible to get bored! Super recommended!

Excelente hotel, se pasa muy bien!!! Es muy amplio, los jardines son hermosos, las piscinas son amplias, los restaurantes tienen variedad. Solamente el tema de las duchas en las habitaciones, es algo que deben mejorar, para algunas personas mayores puede ser peligroso tener que bañarse en una tina de baño, la cual es resbaladiza. Y algunos otros pequeños detalles.En general, es una gran experiencia!

Refiriéndome al parque acuático recomiendo más control al personal sobre el distanciamiento al lanzarse en los toboganes porque yo personalmente tuve un accidente ahí y nisiquiera se percataron de mi situacióny lo hago como una critica constructiva para que no tengan de que lamentarse.

This place is an absolute dump! Not sure how it has 4 stars. From the exterior, the place looks fine. Once Inside, you can see that it’s a bit dated, but no big deal. Get to the room and reality sets in! The room is stuck in 1990. The bedding hasn’t been changed in 20+ yrs. The blanket drapes on to the floor as if they have a king size blanket on a queen size mattress. They do not provide shampoo, conditioner or lotion. No bag in the trash can. Chrome has been worn off of all bathroom fixtures. The fridge was stocked with a single water and single orange soda. 4 bottles of no name liquor hanging from the wall, but only orange soda and water to mix them with?!? The balcony furniture consists of 1 plastic table and 2 plastic chairs that have been spray painted. The bathroom had 8 inches of black water sitting in one of the sinks. We asked for a different room and were given keys to a different room, but were informed that all rooms were the same. There are 5 restaurants in the resort, but only the buffet was opened when we were there. Pool area smelled awful. They closed the pool at 6pm the day we were there. I’m surprised this is still considered a 4 star resort. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. There are too many other options!

Rooms were of an older build and smelled old. No lights in the shower, room and furniture dark in color which was depressing, wifi connection wasn't steady at all, 2 channels in english, elevator was out for a day, no light during the day by our door. It was dark and needed a light to see the lock. Saw vomit on the floor in a lobby that stayed there for hours. Only a caution sign was put up. Definitely needs an upgrade. Great service though. Appreciated staff wearing masks.

Muy bueno el servicio, la comida le falto un poquito, tal vez un poco mas de camarones y pescado en las opciones. Un detalle que no me convenció fue que estando en el restaurante hay que salir y casi cruzar de lado a lado el hotel para ir al baño. Debería haber un poco más de baños en los bloques del hotel. La experiencia en general muy buena pero no perfecta para darle 5 estrellas. El peso al como siempre en CR un éxito! La amabilidad y buen trato.

We enjoyedeight days at Hotel Riu Guanacaste. The oceanfront view from fifth floor was spectacular.The hotel was clean with room service providing fresh towels each day; once the towels were formed as an animal figure. The refrigerator was stocked with sodas and bottled water. Overall, service was good. The staff was polite and friendly.Despite what some reviewershave said, I did not think the room was dated. Our furniture was in good shape. The bed was firm and the pillows small, but I did not think they were uncomfortable.We stayed July 20-27 and all restaurants were open. There were no lines. Again, contrary to other reviews, I thought there was a good good variety of food, but not all was to American tastes. I found thebeeftough and fruits surprisingly tasteless. We liked Toucan restaurant the best. The sports bar is open 24-7 with coffee, espresso and cappuccino. Some reviewers complain that the drinks are weak and I thought that was true at the pool, but the drinks from the bars had plenty of kick.The beach at the hotel is beautiful . Water is dark blue to gray depending on day and sunshine. The water was clear and each morning workers were picking up trash, and I thought the beach was clean. Lounge chairs were plentiful.We tried two excursions—one on the beach from Eric that offered nice snorkeling, but theguides spoke little English. We also went on an excursion offered by the hotel. It actually was a little cheaper. The guides weregreat, but snorkeling was poor.The hotel is in a remote location, but that’s ok. What would be better? It is less than one hour from Liberia. The country’s roads are poor and confusing. We rented a car, but stayed fairly close to the hotel.As for problems—briefly the elevator was out of service and once we had no hot water, but both issues were resolved fairly quickly.My suggestions for improvement would be to provide coffee makers in the rooms instead of liquor dispensers. The hotel should also provide shampoo in bottles as well as conditioner. A printer in the lobby for boarding passes would be nice.Overall 4 out of 5.

The view was beautiful. The stay not so much. There is 1 key for 4 guests. The hot water did not work on the entire fourth floor. When maintenance came to “fix” the hot water he turned on the water, felt it was cold then said he was not able to fix it. There is no room service. The bars and restaurants each close throughout the day. The reception desk never answers the phone. The room decor is not updated.

Very good time at this hotel. Not to far from Liberia airport and was a nice ride. The staff is so friendly and always ready to help if you need anything. There are a few employees I would compliment but Ramon, a manager from the restaurant is the best. He is very educated and has a complete understanding of his job and with the ones under his leadership. Because of what he has done in order to give us much better experience I would say for sure we would come back and recomend this hotel.

Unbelievably friendly staff, so kind! If I can give constructive criticism it would only be that all buffet food could have more flavor. The specialty restaurants are where it’s at!!!!! So good! All of them! Great beverages everywhere. They definitely don’t taste watered down. Beautiful property. Beautiful massive pool! The iguanas and birds everywhere added to the magical ambience! Thank you for everything!

Staying at both Riu, and Riu Palace! Riu Palace has a complete better atmosphere! The customer service is better, the food is better, and the people seem more happy! Riu Guanacaste, is a great place to stay. If you are looking for a place to sleep and just grab a bite to eat. But if you are looking for the total luxury experience, RIU Palace is definitely better.

I only saw this place from Diamante Eco Adventure Park, but it looked impressive! It's likely got that resort vibe where you don't really leave the area --nothing else around, and not easy access to transportation. However, it's probably a great choice for families, which is why I never considered staying there myself.

Overall a decent place. You can tell the facility is aging some. Food options were limited. Pretty much same thing everyday. Beach was decent except for the jellyfish. Can't fault RIU for that though. We had monkeys right off our balcony so that was fun. Staff were very friendly. Don't expect a premium alcohol selection. Overall it was a good experience.

MARAVILHOSO!! A melhor semana da minha vida, num lugar lindo demais, com uma equipe dedicadíssima, entretenimento o tempo todo, várias opções de restaurantes e bares dentro do resort, tudo delicioso e ALL-INCLUSIVE! Eu estava hospedada lá para participar do Campeonato Panamericano de Kung Fu e meu deus!!! Foi a melhor experiência da minha vida junto dos meus amigos e de pessoas de diversas nacionalidades. Quero voltar lá um dia!

La experiencia no ha sido la mejor. Hacer fila para hacer fila es algo que solamente he visto en este hotel. Esperar más de 1 hora para cenar no me parece aceptable. No se hace la limpieza adecuada ni en mesas, ni sillas, ni ascensores, etc. Son pocos los colaboradores que ofrecen un buen trato. En general el sistema que utiliza este hotel está enfocada en la reducción de costos más que en la satisfacción del cliente. No podría recomendar este hotel. Hay otras opciones en la zona con mejor servicio.

Un lugarpara vacacional en familiaa diferencia del otro hotel que es más completo ,la comida es buena , la limpiezaen las habitacionesmejorables,no tienensnacks , solo bebidas( sodas la mayoría). El protocolo en lapendemia comida 19 se aplicade una buena formaen los bares y restaurantes. Puedo decir que en solo 1 restaurante me tomaron las temperatura en solo 1 , ni en la recepción , la piscina es una aglomeraciónes mejor evitarla.

Excelente!... buena vista al mar desde el balcón, la comida es excelente y más la del restaurante Italiano, es el mejor de los 3!. Sin embargo, muchas personas sin protección anti covid, y no hay quien vigile esto(una Estrella menos por esto en este tiempo de pandemia)

La verdad me gustó mucho, muy buena atención, la comida genial, manejan y cumplen con todos los protocolos por el Covid-19, todo muy limpio y ordenado, si hay que tener cuidado en la piscina, se le olvida a la gente la pandemia y se aglomeran mucho, recomiendo ir a la playa, más vacía y además que es más linda que una piscina. Los Kayaks son gratis, solo debes reservarlos y dispones de una hora con ellos. En la noche ponen música en vivo. P.D: el mini baren la habitación es gratis y el restaurante Italiano si no llegan antes de la 7 es muy difícil agarrar campo.

Las zonas comunes están muy limpias, las habitaciones también y la playa privada es bella. Las comidas muy ricas, el servicio al cliente muy bueno y fueron muy amables, en resumen.. regresaré 💖

Adding one star for pandemic handling and one more for beautiful ocean, otherwise very mediocre food experience and lack of entertainment. This pandemic makes vacations less fun.

Se nota que han hecho un esfuerzo importante por aplicar los nuevos protocolos de salud. Si deben velar por la correcta aplicación. Las habitaciones un poco descuidadas, pero los restaurantes muy agradables y buena comida.

Realice la visita al hotel del 18 al 22 de septiembre, en la cual el servicio por parte del hotel fue muy bueno. Como parte de retro alimentacion hay ciertos detalles en el hotel que muestran descuido a nivel de infraestructura los cuales podrian ser reparados y daria una mejor presentacion al lugar, mas que todo del lado de la piscina.A nivel de protocolo por Covid, el hotel está trabajando muy bien a nivel de limpieza, todos los trabajadores utilizan mascarilla y toman temperatura antes de ingresar a cualquier restaurante.La comida estuvo muy bien, si hubo una baja en la calidad comparado a la comida servida en visitas anteriores, pero es sumamente entendible dado a la pandemia que se esta pasando. En el sport bar casi no se encontraban snacks y cuando habian snacks, habian personas que abrian todas las cajas para ver el contenido y dejaban la comida manoseada, por lo que es muy importante reforzar las medidas en ese aspecto.Un dato muy importante para los que van a visitar el hotel, para los restaurantes temáticos, hay que hacer fila entre una hora o 30 minutos previo a la apertura para poder ingresar, debido a que no se puede reservar los espacios y tienen un cupo de alrededor de 130 personas.Durante esta visita hubo gente que se les veía la desesperación por agarrar toda la comida y no respetaban las directrices de distanciamiento, tambien personas que dejaban la basura tirada en diferentes areas del hotel como vasos, platos de carton y servilletas.Los shows son de música instrumental por artistas nacionalesLo que son jacuzzis y discoteca se encuentran cerrados por directrices del ministerio de salud.

This was my favorite hotel I have ever stayed in by far. I went in the summer a few years back, and I have wanted to go back ever since. The black sand beaches were gorgeous and the drinks were remarkable. The room was amazing and so were the performances. I ate at every restaurant they had to offer, and the buffet was my favorite. They had a different theme every day for dinner and had delicious food all day long. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for an adventure, or an escape.

Realmente es un lugar bonito, pero no por ello se deja de lado las experiencias negativas. Su atención es muy inadecuado, muchas de lxs mecerxs, principalmente mujeres, son muy antipáticas, el checkin es demasiado lento, para una simple pregunta se debe hacer una fila enorme para volver al mismo tema de la antipatía del personal. Por consiguiente, la comida del restaurante Ocotal es muy mala, el pollo, el queso y las frutas sabían horrible, al punto de quitar el apetito, estaban algo viejas y suaves. El aseo de las habitaciones fue realmente pésima, se debe esperar hasta las 16:00 para que se le sea entregada, suponiendo que es para la limpieza, pero a la hora de entrar al baño, el inodoro tenía dos vellos y el lavado un cabello, al día siguiente cuando se creía que volvían a realizar la limpieza todo estaba igual, simplemente ordenaron un poco las cosas y listo. Cuando se fue hacer la queja a recepción ni siquiera tuvieron la "gracia" de prestar atención a lo que se les informaba. No se ve por ningún lado personal en los pasillos realizando limpieza y/o desinfección, las pocas veces que ví a alguien fue para sólo darle vuelta a los almohadones de los sofás de la recepción. Por otra parte, el restaurante Liberia sí tenía excelente comida, todo perfecto por ese lado, sus meseros todos muy amables, principalmente la señorita Telma. Sin embargo, para ser un hotel de casi cinco estrellas tienen muchos antibajos, al grado de quedarle grande ese título. Sinceramente esta era la primera ocasión que visitaba el hotel y probablemente sea la última, ya que la impresión que dejaron fue muy pésima.

Amazing and huge place to actually stay for at least a week. There are way too many things to do and enjoy that you will need at least a week to do most of them. The staff is great, the food is great and thw environment is beautiful. I recommend the pools, the beach, the casino, spa, Italian restaurant, Japanese restaurant and well, there was too much to enjoy here. My only regret was staying just 3 days. Highly recommend it.

Overall a nice, fairly clean, and relaxing place to stay. It is in near proximity to the beach. Has a wide variation of places to eat inside the resort. Music is extremely loud in the evening which can make it hard to sleep. Pool is very big and isn't too busy. Watersports are nearby, would recommend!

Absolutely beautiful hotel, incredible friendly staff, excellent food, I would highly recommend the Riu Guanacaste! We spent a week here in February and it was flawless! The entertainment was top notch, beautiful pools with instant access to the Beach right off the hotel!It is certainly a tropical paradise! And I would go back in a blink!

Absolutely beautiful resort. Extremely polite and helpful staff. I'd definitely go there again. We went with a group of 15 people, aged a year and a half to 65. Something for everyone to do. Just wish we would have stayed 10 days instead of 7 to enjoy a couple more pool days. We had tours/excursions 4 out of 7 days. The evening entertainment was phenomenal!

We stayed 8/5/17-8/11/17 and If I could give them no stars I would! My friends as well as myself all ended up with pink eye in both eyes. The hotel is very beautiful but it is very dirty. What I mean by dirty is the staff doesn't take the time to properly clean the hotel. Upon arrival we took Clorox wipes to clean the toilet that had stains all around the toilet seat, and the tub had a big rust looking stain going down the center. We'd ask for extra towels and wash clothes and they would question why we needed more. We went to go to sleep one night and the fresh sheets they just put on earlier that day had blood on them but it wasn't our blood. Another night the sheets had red food stains on them not from any of us as well. When you call the front desk and complain the front desk brushes it off. the pool smells like pure vomit. One day I slept late the cleaning lady said she would come back at 5 to clean. We then left the room before 5 so she could clean she never came back and we didn't have any clean towels, wash cloths or even toilet paper. They serve the same foods for breakfast and lunch everyday. Dinner is the only time they changed the meal or you have other restaurant options. The foods not even good and we were so tired of the same food we stopped wanting to eat it, and you'd think for as much as you pay you'd get a decent meal. Even the restaurants they have, the meals were not good. NOW let's get to the pink eye. The hotel has an emergency medical center that's suppose to be open 24/7 but they have set times it opens, and closes so it's falsely advertised. I had to wait the next day to see someone when I got there the doctor said she had to wait for her assistant to come before she could see anyone. This man spoke no English and did not know what the hell he was doing. He tried taking my blood pressure with a too small cuff, and once it burst open he kept pumping and trying to hold it together with his hand. I told the doctor I'm a nurse and him doing that Is compelety wrong and he needs to be better trained. There were other people waiting after me to be seen with pink eye as well. You'd think the hotel would make its guest aware. I will never go back to this hotel ever. The best part about the entire trip were the excursions. This hotel is not worth the money.

Great spot in Costa Rica! Very clean, outstanding pool and beach/ocean! Beautiful views. Good food, and helpful staff. Check in was not great, but after that an overall awesome experience.

I absolutely loved staying at this hotel. All Inclusive!!!! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I liked the fact that the hotel is kinda like in a remote area off the main streets. The resort is HUGE and with that being said that can create plumbing issues, which I experienced in my room. I don't like standing in "still" water while showering. Also I felt the tub was too high, especially for a short person like myself. Even with handle rails, I slipped once and hit my knee. Don't get me wrong those issues were minor to me in comparison with the immaculate landscape, food, activities, the beach and MONKEYS . I believe you will enjoy your stay at this hotel. Christian in the Liberia main dining was excellent. Try to sit in his section for breakfast and dinner. He's a great server.

We had a 2 week stay at this resort and had a wonderful time and met people from all over the world. The beach was great and you could walk right into the ocean and see fish and sting rays leaping...

My stomach issues from the food lasted for a month when I went home. Rooms could have been cleaner. Food caused diarrhea for all guests in my party. Beach and service was very good. Pool was clean...
