The Belmond Monasterio is an excellent property full of history and character. I would've given The Monasterio a full five stars, except there's a catch, and I'll explain later. The Monasterio is located a mere 5 minute walk (7 if you're taking it easy and acclimating to the altitude like we were) from Cusco's Plaza de Las Armas, the main city square. It is also part of Nazarena Square, which has its share of restaurants and shops. For this reason, you're never far from the places of interest and activity in Cusco. As with the other Belmond properties we've stayed at, the true star of the show at The Monasterio is its entire cast. Everyone we encountered was helpful and friendly. No complaints here. We had lunch at Illariy, The Monasterio's casual dining option. The food did not disappoint, and as usual, service was impeccable. We stayed at one of The Monasterio's one-bedroom courtyard suites. The suite was beautifully appointed with elegant contemporary furniture that juxtaposed nicely against the 17th century artwork that adorned the walls throughout the hotel. The suite was spacious, and the service team at The Monasterio graciously welcomed us with the charcuterie and cheese platter as well as with a chilled bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne. We couldn't find any fault with that. However, if there's one significant miss that the hotel's designers should've addressed, it's the bathroom in this suite. The bathroom itself is spacious; that's not the problem, but when not adequately heated, that can be problematic. Keep in mind we visited The Monasterio during Peru's spring, so the weather was cool especially in the evenings. Taking a shower was a challenge in that it was difficult to keep warm. The stone floor of the bathroom is not heated, so one can't comfortably walk around barefoot. The shower is open on one end, so even with the shower running, the steam doesn't keep you warm at all. The Belmond should consider installing floor heat or heat lamps or a space heater safe for humid rooms. In my opinion, this was a significant demerit. That aside, I would wholeheartedly recommend The Monasterio.

Another amazing Belmond hotel. We've stayed this week in 3 of the 4 in Cusco Province. The Monasterio is the most historic with walls covered with paintings, and the sole remaining 400 year old cedar tree in the main courtyard. The background music everywhere adds to the ambiance. Restaurant is very elegant...we enjoyed the opera night and felt underdressed in nicer slacks and pressed collared shirt.... Butt the music in that former Jesuit refectory was magical. Rooms are nice, we had the cheapest. My wife raved over the bath products! The reception lounge/bar is elegant and classic with a fireplace. The service is Belmonds signature and this one was no exception. Every employee greeted us with eye contact in the halls and said good day, even janitors. They noticed unlit candles, opened doors, invited us to wait inside while they awaited our ride outside! This is NOT all inclusive like the Belmond Sanctuary. Literally the only thing I noticed was that the waiter did not refill my water.... Maybe because you pay for them and mind bottles was empty.... But he could have asked...I really needed water! The location is wonderful, the best; literally 2 minutes walk to the cathedral. We awakened at 7:45 and made it to mass at 8!!

We loved this hotel. Every member of staff was welcoming and professional, more often than not greeting us by name and remembering details and preferences. Rooms are cosy and comfortable. We had drinks and bar food in the lovely courtyard or in front of the fire in the bar, all of which was excellent. Breakfast was good (excellent pastries). The concierge and front desk team could not have been more helpful

I can't rate this place high enough! It was the first place we went to in Peru, and I have really terrible altitude sickness. The hotel staff were so accommodating, bringing in extra oxygen for me and the physician, so I could rest comfortably while getting used to the altitude. Not only was the service fantastic, but the food was superb, and the location was great as it was right in town. Highly recommend!

Precioso hotel ubicado muy cerca de la plaza de armas en Cuzco. La atención es muy personalizada.Las habitaciones son muy lindas con todos los amenities necesarios para pasar una estadía agradable, pero si me parecieron un poco pequeñas.El baño es precioso y cómodo.El desayuno es espectacular. Un buffet muy completo y atención de primera. Todo lo que comimos estaba muy rico. Me encantó el paté con mimosas.En esta oportunidad no cené en las instalaciones del hotel, pero si lo había hecho en otra oportunidad y nos encantó.Hay una estación de té gratuita que sirve mate de coca en el día y te de mañana en lanoche.Si sientes problemas de salud por la altura, te dan un servicio de bombona de oxígeno en el cuarto.Hay una chica que hace y vende artesanías. Se pueden tomar lindas datos con ella.La capilla es espectacular, no dejen de visitarlaIg @lalunaysuscosas

Un hotel de lujo en un monasterio jesuita del 1600. Una experiencia única, con personal atento y preocupado en un hotel ubicado a pasos de todas las atracciones turísticas de Cusco. Camas blandas y cómodas con almohadas a elegir,ducha con presión y temperaturas perfectas. El desayuno ofrece muchas alternativas y está ubicado en un hermoso patio central. El hotel Belmond Monasterio es uno de los mejores del Cuzco. Las instalaciones son espectaculares, desde el bar, la iglesia , etc. El ambiente es cálido, tranquilo y elegante. El restaurante es excelente, los insumos de alta calidad. Punto aparte merece la atención, todo el personal es atento, sobrio, muy gentil, están atentos a cada de detalle, hacen que la estadía sea perfecta. Super recomendado!

This has been the best Hotel experience I have ever had. The service is exceptional, the food is amazing, the architecture is hauntingly gorgeous and historic and every single detail is completely thought through. Also, their covid precautions are thorough without being overwhelming. They are so centrally located and amongst other beautiful streets and buildings. I wish I didn't have to leave!

Una experiencia única por su ubicación en el corazón del centro histórico a pocos metros de la plaza de armas. Un patio adornado con arquerías y una fuente de la época, destaca el árbol de cedro y sus jardines coloridos. Habitaciones bien puestas ,amplias, con baños grandes. Decoración exquisita de gran nivel en su mayoría obras de arte. Uno de los pocos hoteles con sistema de oxigenación en cada habitación. Tiene dos restaurantescon cartas variadas y muy buenas opciones, un gran salón capitular donde funciona el bar. La iglesia es majestuosa con cuadros con pan de oro monumentales. Vale la pena visitar !

Increíble hotel de época, excelente edificio, instalaciones. Todo es bello! Mi novio sufrió la altura y estuvieron súper atentos, nos trajeron el oxígeno, y nos fueron chequeando hasta que estuvo bien porque al otro día nos íbamos a Macchu Picchu en tren, por suerte salió todo excelente!Incredible vintage hootel, excelent building, installations. Everything is beautiful! My boyfriend suffered from altitude sickness and they were super attentive, they brought us oxygen, and they kept on checking us until he was feeling better because next day we were leaving to Macchu Picchu by train, luckily, everything went great after!

It is really nice historic hotel. Though I a little bit annoyed with all those old pictures, but still I enjoyed this hotel. Located just minutes away walking to the center of the city. The best part of this hotel is their yard which is beautiful. Rooms are quite big and they served delicious breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to other people

I want to express how much we enjoyed our stay at the Belmond. My daughters and I were on a trip "of a lifetime" celebrating their birthday and our Belmond stay was well beyond expectations. The staff was wonderful to work with! All were very attentive and courteous and very efficient in responding to our needs as well as insightful knowledge to anticipate our needs before we did! Thus, the staff was very proactive in assuring our stay was the absolute best. And it was!!! A special thanks to Carlos, Daniel, Miguel, Jimy and all the waitstaff, whose names I do not have, provided excellent service. A true 5 star experience!!!!! Thank you!!
